Wednesday was a pretty packed day, as I get off to an early start with a dog walk to the local quarry. The weather started pretty rubbish, so Henry really wanted to go in the car rather than walk, despite me putting his wax coat on!

I managed to ‘persuade’ him to walk instead though, which was good because the weather turned and within 20-minutes there were bright blue skies and it really warmed-up. Because it was so lovely I decided to do some foraging on the walk and collected some Hawberries in order to try my hand at Hawberry Ketchup.
However, the ketchup didn’t really come out as I expected…

It tastes OK, but is completely the wrong consistency, so I’ll have to get out and do more foraging before all the berries disappear!
That freed-up the afternoon to do some mountain biking, for which I’d planned a route on the Komoot route planner. It was a cross-country mountain bike route, taking in Fineshade Wood where I’ll be leading a scout MTB activity later in the month. It was a really lovely ride, albeit with quite a few hills to tackle, but the effort of going up was more than compensated by the enjoyment of going down again!
It also gave me a further chance to get used to riding on ‘flats’ instead of clip-ins, but I still need to do a bit more before the weekend!
