Day-10 – 0.1% Completed

Yes, it’s a bit sad, but 10-days is 0.1% of the project, which kinda gives an indication of the scale of my undertaking. As I type here I wonder how long I’ll have to maintain this by typing or what wonderful devices will exist in 10, 20 or 30 years.

I might wonder whether much will change, but if we look back 30-years and see what we were using then compared to the smart phones and iPads of today, I think it’s safe to say that things will be very different indeed…

I my opinion the greatest quantum leap will be a seamless human/technology interface, rather than the QWERTY keyboard that dates back to 1870s! So, although the technology behind the keyboard might have changed significantly, the way we interract with it hasn’t really changed for 160-years, which shows how right the original inventor got it.

Anyway, Day-10 got off to nice start with breakfast and a circular walk around Stamford, including the golf course and fruit farm…

It was then home for a quick change before heading off on a lovely bike ride with my Father-in-Law, where I tried out my new MTB pedals and shoes. I’ve always ridden my MTB in clip-ons, which were great for the long-distance rides across Morocco and in to the Atlas Mountains, but aren’t great for the type of riding I’m likely to be doing in Rutland, such as technical trails.

Anyway, I decided to take the plunge and go ‘flats’ for this lovely ride up the Trent and surrounding countryside…

The afternoon was supposed to be used for wood turning, but unfortunately the lathe snapped a belt on the first touch of a turning tool (not in my hands btw), so I instead attempted to fix a different lathe. I’ll get another chance on Saturday though, as the Elm ‘blank’ is ready ad the lathe belt has been replaced, so watch this space for my first wooden bowl.

It was then dinner and returning to Rutland for a rest!
