Day-4 – Put the Pedal to the Metal

Today was a day of 2-halves so to speak. The first part of the day was spent on almost completing the kitchenette, which involved finishing the splashback with slate roof tiles (left over from the build), shaping a piece of wood to cop the splashback and then fitting some LED lights to make it easier when working in that space.

I must admit that I’m pretty chuffed with the result, so only a few minor things such as sealing it all with silicone and dressing the slate with copper nail heads left to do…

I also completed the birdhouse stand by adding an additional ‘cross’ at the bottom that the legs are screwed to. That gave me an opportunity to do a ‘cross lap’ joint, using some techniques I saw in a woodworking programme, which I’m very happy with.

I ended the day with a lovely (but pretty intense) 32-mile cycle ride in the beautiful Rutland countryside. I need to fine-tune the gears after a new derailleur, but that’s a job for the morning!

Tootle Pip!
