Day-3 – Biking Buzz!

Today had a whole variety of good stuff, wrapped-up in enjoying some splendid Autumn weather on the Beemer – an RNineT Racer…

Obviously, the shark teeth and eyes are not factory standard, but inspired by the WW2 aircraft (such as the P51 Mustang) that used to have this painted on the nosecone. I’m hoping to go for a full WW2 aicraft respray at some point, along with a few other modifications, but until then I’m happy to just show my teeth as they are.

Interestingly, today I learnt that the animated mechanical Shark in ‘Jaws’ was nicknamed Bruce after the Steven Spielburg’s Lawyer… but this Beemer is called Barbara in case you were wondering.

The main thing that made me happy today was getting the kitchenette worktop finished, oiled and installing the sink and induction hob. That means I can finish off the slate surround tomorrow (hopefully) and it’s then down to the Plumber and Electrician to finish things off.

It’s really exciting and very good timing, as a friend now wants me to design and build some improvements to their kitchen, as a project, so I went round and got some measurements this evening. Who knows, this might be the start of an entirely new career!

It was really satisfying to get on top of some admin today as well, including the change of address on my driving licence which has been backwards and forwards for 6-months now… so long that it’s expired and they now need a new photo and some money to process it. However, as I needed to check a route for an upcoming cycle club ride (The Cyclists of Stamford) I got the motorbike out and went for a ‘hoon’ as they say.

That’s where I saw a Dalmatian cow…

After recently moving to the countryside and having been a motorcycle instructor in London for around 10-years it’s nice to be able to ride some beautiful roads again. I’m really starting to feel the mojo that got me in to bikes in the first place (over 20-years ago) but every ride is a chance to redevelop and hone the skills that are important in order to safely enjoy these roads.

Anyway, I might write more about that on some quieter days, as I’ll probably use this blog to also tell the story of how I got here and some of the highlights that I’ll enjoy putting down for eternity.

TTFN…
