Day-1 – The Journey Begins

So, here we go with the first step of this potentially epic journey!

The things I enjoyed doing today were firstly helping at the local Scout HQ where we needed to sort out wet equipment from a couple of Scout camps over the weekend… where the weather was not kind. After checking things over and ensuring they were dry we packed them up ready for next time.

Job done!

After that (and a spot of lunch) I spent the afternoon working on a bird table I’ve been building, which had the top already built (from leftover building waste) but needed something to sit on. Again, after scouring the leftover bits of timber from the roofer and builders I managed to pull things together and this was the end result…

Yes, it was raining, so most of the work had to be done in the yet incomplete converted stables, which is going to be an Air BnB. Heree’s a shot of the top part…

There’s still a bit of work to full stabilise the legs, then I reckon a lick of paint and a woodstained roof would finish it off nicely!

The day finished off with a non-alcolohic beer and a salmon stir-fry, before some Scout admin to organise a Mountain Bike activity later in the month. As I’m leading it I also invested in a few new bits and started to plan what skills I’ll be teaching them… which I’ve got 3-weeks to practice myself!
